For those going to TBR

If you haven't made your reservations yet, they have a special Net Reservation deal for $93.46/night for the regular suites. The only drawback for this is that they charge your card immediately rather than at the time of check in and it's non-refundable. But if you're 100% positive you're going to be at the Con, then it's not a bad deal. I've made the reservations for our room through it, with a note that we are part of the TBR group. (We're also going to call to confirm it.)

I just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone that might still need to make their reservations and are looking for a discount. It's through Embassy Suites' website.

It looks like there will be a Con in my future after all

With the upcoming move for Rich's job, our Con certainty was very uncertain. We missed ACUS because we weren't certain when Rich's defense would be and didn't want to make any commitments. And as time was drawing closer to TBR, it seemed less and less likely that it would be doable.

But today, Rich and I sat down with our timeline and realized that the earliest we'd be able to move - assuming Rich gets the post-doc at the Mayo Clinic - will be the first week in July, due to the two months notice we need to give our current apartment building. Which puts us after TBR. Since flights are cheaper from Philly than they are from the Twin Cities, we can do it.

So today, we've made the airline reservations, we have roommates and we have a game that we're going to run (blurb will be coming soon, for those interested.)

I'm excited by it. I had pretty much given up the hope of making any Cons this year because of the various responsibilities and changes in my life. And, to be honest, I felt a great deal of jealousy at not being able to attend ACUS this year. (Granted, I beat it down with a stick. And having the chance to visit with Arref and his RFL helped me not dwell.)

Yes, life is very, very good.
